In the light of the nationwide protests and increased discourse on issues of systemic racism in our country, Adelphi is committed to strategically make changes in our curriculum to include best practices and literature that will deepen and intensify our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

The library dean, staff and faculty have collected resources for all content areas and programs for faculty to use as we make important changes to our curriculum. These resources will help you as an instructor to do the following:

  • Consider best practices that would promote diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.
  • Lead the exploration of opportunities for area-specific curriculum enhancement as relates to diversity.
  • Examine the potential role of curriculum in diminishing bias.
  • Examine and use best teaching practices e.g Universal design for Learning.

Thank you for your consideration of these important steps that will help Adelphi toward its goal of becoming a model of diversity, equity and inclusion.

– Anne Mungai, Associate Provost for Strategic Initiatives and Graduate Studies.

Associate Dean of Library Research and Academic Services, Jason Byrd, and other Libraries employees have already created a list of shared resources on anti-racism and Black Lives Matter. This comprehensive collection of links to books, films, articles, videos, and other resources will be a great help to all who want to become a part of the solution to the problem of racism.

Libraries will ensure that our acquisitions and programs reflect the increasing diversity of the curriculum and research of the University.
