About Our Library Faculty

The faculty at the Adelphi University Libraries bring expertise and passion to their scholarship, teaching responsibilities, academic partnerships, and librarianship. With advanced degrees, the 12 professors and 17 adjunct professors at the libraries are highly educated and skilled in providing library services and in facilitating the use of information resources.

The library faculty as an academic unit is an integral part of Adelphi University and is committed to partnering with other academic departments in order to ensure the academic success of our students.

Library faculty are available to teach information literacy and research skills enhancing classes to students, to meet with students for one-on-one consultations, and to be on call at the desk, on the phone, through email, text and instant messaging in order to answer reference questions.

As subject specialists each library professor specializes in a particular subject area or department where they support teaching faculty, where they enhance library collections in order to ensure that information resources support the particular academic focus of each department, and where they provide the in-depth and specialized assistance often needed to conduct advanced research in a particular academic discipline.

Faculty librarians are also at the forefront of research and scholarship in the field of library science. They advance the knowledge and practice of librarianship through publishing works, presenting at conferences, and participating in professional associations and organizations.
