Information Literacy and Instruction

Librarians at Adelphi University Libraries are available to provide customized instruction for classes or for individuals. The Libraries provide semester-long support to assist with research assignment development, skills assessment, research readiness, and more. Our goal is to equip learners with the information literacy skills necessary to become effective lifelong consumers of information.

Scholarly Communications and Open Access

Open access (OA) is scholarly research that can be accessed online and read for free. It has less restrictive copyright and licensing than traditionally published research so that it can be more freely shared. View our comprehensive guide for information about OA publishers, resources, copyright and author rights, and advice on how to publish open access research.

Plagiarism and Academic Honesty

Understand plagiarism, learn steps to avoid it, and learn the importance of giving credit by citing sources when quoting, paraphrasing, or summarizing from sources used.

Copyright and Fair Use

Learn about copyright and fair use for educators so you can use resources in compliance with copyright law. Permission from copyright holders is often needed when creating or sharing course materials, research, and online content.

Citation Lookup

If you have an article, book chapter, or book citation, use the Citation Lookup tool to search our journal and book holdings for full-text. When the article/book/journal is immediately available through the library, options for access will be presented.

Citation Styles and Tools

A guide to resources and best practices for citation, academic integrity, and bibliographic management. This guide includes information on citing resources in APA, Chicago/Turabian, CSE, and MLA styles.

Subject Guides and Help Guides

The library's collection of video tutorials, course guides, general tutorials, and subject-specific guides. Also included informational and policy-related guides.

Begin Research Tutorial

Do you have an assignment that asks you to write a research paper, but you are not sure where to begin? Our Beginning Research Tutorial will guide you through the basics. This tutorial is also often used in Freshman Orientation as an introduction to college-level research and the resources the library has to offer.
