Faculty can use electronic reserve (E-reserve) to set aside specific course materials for students in their classes, including articles, syllabi, URL’s, book chapters, and schedules. Students can then easily access this material from any computer through ALICAT.
Submitting Materials for E-reserve
As with traditional reserve services, faculty are required to complete a Reserve Services form. This form is also available at the Access Services Desk at the Garden City, Hauppauge, and Manhattan Center Libraries.The form and copies of the reserve material should be submitted to the Access Services Desk.
The form must be legible to expedite scanning. The option "Check for E-Reserve" must be checked.
Professors are requested to limit reserve material to no more than 25 items per course. Faculty with submissions exceeding this limit should consider arranging for a course pack. For more information, call 516.877.3967.
A paper copy will also be available at the library, which students may borrow for two hours, room use only.
Submission Deadlines
To ensure that material is available to students by the start of the semester, submissions should be made by the following dates:
- January 1st for upcoming Spring Semester
- May 1st for upcoming Summer I Semester
- May 15th for upcoming Summer II Semester
- August 1st for upcoming Fall Semester
Materials submitted after these dates will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis and may not be available in time for the beginning of the semester.
Restrictions
Adelphi University Libraries follow the "fair use" guidelines endorsed by the American Library Association.All E-reserve items will be deleted from ALICAT at the end of every semester.
