Circulation Policy
CMC materials are all catalogued and barcoded, and may circulate for a 28 day period consistent with the Library's general collection circulation policy. These materials are not available for interlibrary loan due to their heavy usage within the School of Education .

Criteria for the Selection of Materials
All materials are selected by the CMC librarian to reflect the appropriate treatment of race, gender and cultural issues. In addition, materials are evaluated in terms of their information content, subject treatment, intended audience, depth and breadth of coverage, and for any special features. Selections are made by the use of vendor catalogs, conferences and critical reviews, and are in accordance with the standards and guidelines set forth by the Association of College and Research Libraries.

Collection Arrangement
The CMC collection contains teaching materials for grade levels preK-12 and includes:

  • Books (including big books, books with cassettes, textbooks,
    workbooks, children’s books)
  • Teacher's guides
  • Games
  • Puzzles
  • Kits
  • Maps
  • Charts
  • Pictures

Deselection/Replacements
The CMC collection is developed to provide a current, not a historical perspective. Items within the CMC may be removed based on their physical condition, poor content, currency, obsolete format, or are duplicates of little used and older titles. These decisions shall be made by the CMC Librarian who will remove materials as they become obsolete. Replacements will be made by the CMC Librarian based upon circulation records maintained for the material.

Gifts
Only gifts which meet the selection criteria of the CMC collection development policy will be accepted.

Tests
Standardized Tests are available to students who possess a valid ID and are enrolled in Education courses designed to critically evaluate Standardized Tests and Measures. All tests must be viewed under the supervision of a Reference Librarian. These tests cannot be photocopied or removed from the Library. A complete list of these tests is available at the Reference Desk.
