The Walt Whitman Collection at Adelphi University

Welcome to the Walt Whitman Collection in Special Collections at Adelphi University Libraries in Garden City, New York . The Collection was established by Professor Emory Holloway, an early Whitman scholar and Adelphi faculty member from 1914-1937.

In recognition of the one hundredth anniversary of Whitman's death, Adelphi Libraries mounted an exhibition featuring items from the collection. In conjunction with the exhibition, Adelphi Professor Thomas Heffernan coordinated a symposium entitled Walt Whitman Here in Trimming Square .

The Introduction link below will provide a brief biography of Professor Holloway. The Exhibit link features a selection of items from the Whitman Collection. The cataloged books of the Collection are listed in the ALICAT link, while Walt Whitman Here in Trimming Square is presented in the Symposium link. Related websites are described in Other Links.
