Release in partnership with the Open Library of Humanities.
We are extremely pleased to announce that Adelphi University has joined the Open Library of Humanities’ Library Partnership Subsidy system. Adelphi University is a nationally ranked, doctoral research university relentlessly dedicated to student success. First-rate teaching, scholarship and creative endeavor lie at the heart of an Adelphi world-class academic experience. As a leader in higher education, Adelphi faculty are making their mark across academic fields and country borders. Adelphi faculty members have won Fulbright Program fellowships, the Pulitzer Prize, a Guggenheim Fellowship, grants and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities, and competitive funding from the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health.
The Open Library of Humanities is an academic-led, gold open-access publisher with no author-facing charges. With funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the platform covers its costs by payments from an international library consortium, rather than any kind of author fee.
Professor Martin Paul Eve, a founder and academic project director of the OLH, welcomed Adelphi University: “It is brilliant to have Adelphi University on board. Open access is clearly the future of scholarly communications and, with our model, we will ensure the broadest availability of humanities research.”
“At Adelphi, we are surrounded by faculty with tremendous talent, passion and achievements,” said Christopher K. Storm, Ph.D., associate provost for faculty advancement and research at Adelphi University. “We are proud to be part of the international consortium to turn attention to showcasing Adelphi faculty work on a global scale to generate knowledge and inspire others.”
“Adelphi University is deeply committed to enhancing the resources available to faculty for research, professional development, teaching and service innovation,” said Brian Lym, M.S., M.L.I.S., dean of Adelphi University Libraries. “By establishing this connection with the Open Library of Humanities’ Library Partnership Subsidy system, Adelphi is able to nurture faculty pursuits and encourage publishing scholarly works and field research to advance numerous fields.”
